Chinanews.com, Toronto, January 16th. The 2023 "Happy Chinese New Year" Overseas Chinese New Year Opera Gala hosted by the Canadian Chinese Opera Arts Association will be held on January 29th in Richmond Hill, Greater Toronto Area.

  The evening will be divided into five sections.

The first is "Auspicious Clouds and Lunar New Year", in which dances and martial arts that embody the elements of Peking Opera are assisted in the performance to render the happy and peaceful atmosphere of the Spring Festival. "The First Cry of the Liyuan", the children of the "Little Liyuan" children's class will perform famous pieces from different genres; the third is "A Gathering of Operas", local fans in Toronto will sing the same opera characters with Peking Opera and Henan Opera, Yue Opera and Cantonese Opera The fourth is "Blooming Plum Blossoms", in which the students of Danjiao class will perform famous performances by famous artists of different genres; the fifth is "Inheritance of National Essence", China's national first-class actor, successor of the famous Hualianqiu School, Canadian Chinese Opera Art Association The honorary president Yang Yanyi will lead the students to perform classic songs on the same stage.

  Zhang Yanyan, president of the Canadian Chinese Opera Art Association, recently told the media that in order to promote cultural and artistic exchanges between Canada and China, especially to provide a platform for opera art exchanges, the association has held special Beijing opera performances in spring and autumn every year since its establishment in 2015. On the occasion of the New Year, the New Year's Opera Evening is held, and it also participates in performances of other cultural institutions.

The association not only promotes the quintessence of Chinese opera to the local community in Toronto, but also invites famous opera masters at home and abroad to join hands with local fans to perform in many places in Canada.

Despite the epidemic in the past three years, the teachers and students of the association's Peking Opera training class still actively took countermeasures, and joined hands with famous opera masters and tickets at home and abroad to jointly create overseas cloud performances, with outstanding results.
