My name is Nima King, I am a Wing Chun teacher in Hong Kong, I have been living here for 17 years.

[Explanation] From the middle of the last century to "Huang Feihong" in the 1970s, "Shaolin Temple" in the 1980s, and then to "Jing Wu Heroes" in the 90s, Hong Kong's martial arts movies are world-famous. Starting from the era of Bruce Lee, the exquisite martial arts of various schools Entering the global audience's field of vision through the big screen once attracted many foreign movie fans to come to Hong Kong to learn from teachers, including the Australian boy Nima King.

This is obviously Master Ip Man, his first disciple Liang Xiang, Luo Yao is the second disciple, and my teacher is the third disciple of Ip Man.

[Explanation] The master in Nima's mouth is Xu Shangtian.

Master Xu is one of the early disciples of the great master Ip Man. He is known as the "King of Little Thoughts" in the industry.

In 2003, Master Xu went to Sydney, Australia to promote Wing Chun culture.

It was this lecture that made Nima and Hong Kong forge an indissoluble bond since then.

So when he came to the presentation, he asked for a volunteer (to come on stage and present), I raised my hand, and he called me up on stage in front of the crowd.

Because of his age and thinness, I didn't expect him to have this much strength.

He looked at me, looked up and down, smiled, and as he spoke, he exerted so much force that he almost knocked me to the floor.

This scene was like something seen in a movie, I had never experienced it myself, so I decided to learn from him.

[Explanation] Marveling at the profound oriental culture contained in Wing Chun, this young man resolutely left his hometown of Australia and traveled across the ocean to Hong Kong to learn art from a teacher.

In the first few years, I couldn't speak a word of Cantonese, and I couldn't understand it at all. I could understand Master Xu's English.

But the way he teaches is mainly through feeling and contact, so that I can feel the correct way of playing Wing Chun.

[Explanation] For Nima, who just arrived in Hong Kong and could not even understand a sentence of Chinese, it is undoubtedly necessary to understand the traditional Chinese philosophies contained in Wing Chun, such as "use softness to overcome rigidity", "use small to defeat big", "use whole to break middle" and so on. It is difficult.

(There is a saying "Use softness to overcome rigidity". Is this also one of the Chinese philosophies?) Exactly right, the more relaxed you are, the more (powerful) you are.

Don't use this kind of brute force, if you use brute force, of course I will win.

My father passed away very early, so Master Xu is like a father to me.

A lot of times I watch what he does, like he goes to water the plants, how he treats his wife and children, how he restrains himself, I keep learning from him, so I think I learned from him What is beyond language.

[Explanation] It was Master Xu's careful teaching like a family that made him fall in love with Wing Chun in a foreign land, and fell in love with Hong Kong, a diverse and inclusive city.

In 2014, Master Xu passed away, and Ip Man Wing Chun was also included in Hong Kong's first list of intangible cultural heritage.

As the grandson of Ip Man, he is determined to open a school in Hong Kong so that more people can know and understand this culture.

The original purpose of my Wing Chun school was just to share the skills taught by Master Xu to me, because it really changed my life from a deep level, so I want to share it with others, my purpose is to make Wing Chun more Well developed in Hong Kong.

For some children, their studies become more focused after class.

Of course adults can also benefit from it, because many adult students are financial practitioners, lawyers, bankers and so on, so when they come here, they get to relax and decompress and reset their lives.

So my purpose (running the school) is to spread this beautiful art in the future, not only in Hong Kong but to the whole world.

[Explanation] It is easier said than done, and the hardships at the beginning of the business are still unforgettable to him.

When I first came to Hong Kong with nothing, when we started the school, I decided to stop other jobs and put all my energy into this venture, but we were broke, and we didn't even have enough money to pay for a full house. So initially we would teach on the beach or on the street, find a place with a roof if it rained, and that's how our Wing Chun school started.

[Explanation] With extraordinary perseverance, Nima and his entrepreneurial partners finally overcome all difficulties and established one of the largest Wing Chun schools in Hong Kong, with thousands of students taught.

Under the epidemic, he also tried to organize an online school, so that students can learn Wing Chun "on the cloud" even if they are anywhere in the world.

Today, besides teaching, he also cooperates with organizations such as the Hong Kong Tourism Board to promote Hong Kong's tourism culture to tourists from all over the world.

When I first came here it was all water, about ten years ago they started reclamation and turned it into land, roads and now there are beautiful parks.

They've built parks, government buildings, it's changed a lot, quickly, and for the better, which is good.

The whole (West Kowloon Cultural) district is a museum, it's great, that's my favorite area, my whole family goes there, because there's a big lawn, we'll pitch a tent and play ball, that's my favorite in Hong Kong places that never existed before.

[Explanation] Living in Hong Kong for 17 years, in the eyes of this Australian guy, this city has already become his hometown. He hopes that through his own efforts, people from different corners of the world will fall in love with Hong Kong and Wing Chun .
