As water vapor from the south flowed in, winter rain fell across the country.

A lot of rain poured down mainly in the mountains and southern coast of Jeju, such as 379mm on Samgakbong in Jeju Island and 123mm on Yangjiam in Geoje, Gyeongsangnam-do.

About 60 flights between Jeju Island and Busan airport were canceled due to strong winds.

Mid-January is dry and cold, so it doesn't rain much, but a winter rain like today is unusual.

In Mokpo, where observations began in 1904, 31.1mm of rain fell today, the largest amount recorded in mid-January.

Daily precipitation in various parts of the country, including Paju, Busan, Geoje, Yeosu, and Haenam, also recorded the highest level in mid-January.

As rain clouds moved over the East Sea, the rain stopped in most areas, but it will continue until tonight in Gangwon, Jeju, and some Gyeonggi and Chungcheong areas.

Tomorrow, the weekend, rain is expected in most parts of the country, but as the temperature drops, the rain will change to snow in many places.

In particular, during the weekend, heavy snowfall of 70 cm in the mountains of Gangwon and 20 to 50 cm in the east coast of Gangwon is expected, so a preliminary warning of heavy snow was issued in the Gangwon region.

The Korea Meteorological Administration said that the snow this time was heavy and wet, and cautioned against safety accidents such as collapse accidents and traffic accidents.
