On January 13, the Liaoning Provincial Meteorological Observatory issued a number of early warning signals such as a cold wave orange warning and a yellow road ice warning.

At present, during the "March 9th" period, there is a folk saying in the north that "when it is cold, it is 239th, and the sky is so cold that it is so cold that you are shaking", but the "March 9th" in 2023 is very warm, and it even rains.

  Since January, the cold air affecting our province has been weak and the temperature has been high.

According to statistics, from January 4th to 12th, the average temperature in the province was -3.6°C, which was abnormally high compared with the same period of the year and ranked first in history.

Therefore, it also caused large-scale rainfall in the whole province on the 12th, and it is relatively rare to have large-scale rainfall in mid-January.

  [Explanation] After entering the "March 9", from January 9th to 12th, the average maximum temperature in Liaoning Province was 4.6°C, and the average minimum temperature was -6.7°C. In addition, on the night of the 12th, except for the eastern, northern and northwestern regions , the lowest temperature in most parts of the province is above 0°C, ranging from 1°C to 6°C.

The high temperature meets the front of the cold air, which caused the first rainfall in this weather process.

According to reports, historically, during the "March 9" period in 1964 (January 11), Liaoning also experienced a large-scale rainfall process.

  On the whole, regardless of the time of precipitation and the change and distribution of precipitation in 1964, it is very similar to the precipitation process that occurred during the "March 9" period from 12 to 14 this time. It can be said that during the "March 9" period in the history of Liaoning Widespread rain has been rare in the past 60 years.

It is expected that the temperature will reach the lowest point in this process on the morning of the 15th.

This process is also accompanied by obvious windy weather.

In addition, meteorological experts reminded that it is currently the peak period of Spring Festival travel, and this weather process needs to focus on the adverse effects of wet roads, icing, and snow caused by rain and snow on traffic safety and energy supply.
