The Intercommunal Syndicate for the Hydraulic Development of the Yvette Valley (Siahvy) indicated that it detected water pollution in Chilly-Mazarin (Essonne) on Tuesday.

The Yvette and Orge rivers are affected by the phenomenon, reports Actu Essonne.

It would have for origin the contamination of rainwater by hydrocarbons, advanced the organization.

After being warned by the technical services of the municipality, the union deployed anti-pollution booms.

The Essonne departmental fire and rescue service (Sdis) then implemented its own contamination limitation devices.

The Siahvy announced on its Facebook page that an investigation had been opened and that a complaint would be filed.

However, the means mobilized did not prevent foreign bodies from also flowing into the Orge, a confluence of the Yvette.

Faced with the spread of pollution, the Barley union has therefore in turn implemented measures.

The municipality of Chilly-Mazarin also wanted to alert the population to the possibility of olfactory nuisance linked to the pollution, which it described as harmless.
