50 Cent has apologized to Megan Thee Stallion after calling her a liar.

Late last year, after talking about it on social media and on TV, the

WAP

singer testified under oath that Tory Lanez shot her after a party.

The latter was prosecuted following this incident and found guilty.

The Candy Shop

had meanwhile compared, via a meme on his networks, the rapper to actor Jussie Smollett, who was convicted of having staged his own assault and made a false statement to the police.

If Tory Lanez is still waiting to know his sentence (he risks more than twenty years in prison), 50 Cent is the first rapper to publicly admit that he was wrong to support his colleague at the expense of the real victim.

In an interview with Big Boy TV on Wednesday, 50 Cent said he was wrong and expressed his regrets.

“I want to apologize to Megan Thee Stallion.

I said things, I posted things on social media… It was because, when she was being interviewed by Gayle King, when she was asked about her relationship with Tory (Lanez) before the shooting, she said she had never been in an intimate relationship with him.

She had lied about that, so I felt like she was lying about everything else,” he said.

During Tory Lanez's trial, Megan Thee Stallion confirmed that she initially lied about the nature of her relationship with the defendant, explaining that she did not want it to be made public, adding: "How could I have share my body with the person who was going to shoot me?

Meanwhile, a phone conversation between Tory Lanez, then in prison, and the rapper's former best friend, Kelsey Harris, turned things around.

In this telephone interview, Tory Lanez admitted to having shot Megan Thee Stallion, regretting his gesture by claiming “to have drunk too much” at the time of the facts.

“I knew I had to apologize to her when I heard that conversation.

I was like "Oh shit, now I know what happened".

I'm sure that's also what convinced the jury,” he added.

And the others ?

If 50 Cent has made his mea culpa public, he is currently the only one.

Still, there were a few who lashed out at Megan Thee Stallion when she accused Tory Lanez of shooting her.

Starting with Drake, who even made a song out of it, called

Circo Loco

.

In addition, Megan Thee Stallion received no public support from the moment she denounced her attacker until the conviction of the latter.

A silence that has revived the problem of misogyny in the record and rap industry, and in society in general.
