In an interview with "Point" Thursday, January 12, Edouard Philippe wanted to clarify things about alopecia, his autoimmune disease which caused him to lose his eyebrows.

The former Prime Minister explained that it was "not serious, not dangerous and not painful", and he let it be known that he would soon lose his beard.

“We are not going to spend the night there”: in an interview with

Point

on Thursday January 12, Edouard Philippe quickly wanted to evacuate the subject of his alopecia, the autoimmune disease which made his beard white and which also made him lose his eyebrows.

The mayor of Le Havre assures that he "lives well" with alopecia which "is neither serious, nor dangerous, nor contagious, nor painful".

“I am in good health, I am losing my hair”

"A politician prefers to talk about ideas than hair," continues Edouard Philippe.

"The eyebrows have fallen out, they won't come back. The hair is falling out, I'm not sure they will grow back. The beard will eventually fall out," adds the one who feels in good shape and well in his skin.

"I'm still able to line up a few straight lines and a few well-felt lefts in a ring. I'm in good health, I'm losing my hair. And as Johnny Hallyday would say: 'What my face, what's wrong? my mouth? ', he concludes with humor.

Edouard Philippe has the same disease as Jada Pinkett Smith

Edouard Philippe spoke for the first time about his illness in 2022. And he has been the target of attacks and jokes since his beard turned white.

"It is to be hoped that Édouard Philippe will take care of his beard problems, because he only has the appearance left to save the void of his project", had tackled him Olivier Marleix, leader of the LR deputies in the Assembly national.

Another personality known to the general public is affected by alopecia: Jada Pinkett Smith, the wife of Will Smith.

In early 2021, she decided to completely shave her head due to her falling hair.

If she had a bad experience of her illness at first, Jada Pinkett Smith, like Edouard Philippe, quickly put things into perspective: “People are suffering from cancer, have sick children… A force that is beyond us takes things away from people every day, and if she wants to take my hair, I don't think it's a lot," she said on her show.
