The 80th Golden Globes ceremony ended on Wednesday January 11, opening the season of the awards, presented by the association of the foreign press of Hollywood.

Beyond the awards, the event was special because it was the first time since the NBC channel refused to broadcast the ceremony, after a series of revelations about the association's unethical methods and the absence of blacks among the hundred voters.

 with three awards

, including Best Comedy and Best Actor for Colin Farrel.

The Fabelmans

, by Steven Spielberg, won the Golden Globes for best drama, ahead of

Top Gun Maverick

 and

Avatar.

But the event was also a bit special, not only for the short speech of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Comedian Jerrod Carmichael, the first

African-American host

of the Golden Globes, played the card of honesty from the start.

But apart from his frank monologue, the evening was like the previous ones: festive, with stars like Brad Pitt or Eddie Murphy well present despite the controversy.

And the length of the laureates' speeches showed their enthusiasm. 

Michelle Yeoh, the ex-kung fu movie specialist

, received a Golden Globe for her impressive performance in 

Everything, Everywhere, All at Once

She didn't want to be interrupted by the orchestra: “

The Fabelmans

, an autobiographical film.

During Covid-19, I didn't even know if all of us would ever have the chance to tell another story.

Nobody really knows who we are until we find the courage to say who we really are and it took me a long time to tell my story.

Hollywood seems reconciled with the Globes.

But the NBC channel will also take a look at the evening's audience to decide whether or not to extend its broadcasting contract, which expired this year.
