This Wednesday, seagulls were found dead with the bird flu virus in Lyon and Saint-Genis-Laval, a surrounding town.

The prefecture of Isère asks through a press release "not to approach wild birds" and has just set up "a temporary control zone (ZCT) with a radius of 20 km" around the places where seagulls were discovered to prevent the spread of the virus.

This measure will be lifted within 21 days, if no new cases have appeared.

Eating meat is safe

In this perimeter, which includes 13 municipalities in Isère, measures such as sheltering or restrictions on entry into farms have been reinforced, as well as the surveillance of duck farms.

Additional information can be found on the site of the prefecture of Isère.

She recalls “that the consumption of meat, foie gras and eggs does not present any risk for humans”.

As a reminder, the virus remains active mainly in droppings and stagnant water containing contaminated droppings, state services specify.
