A Maritime Self-Defense Force escort ship had a screw failure while navigating the Seto Inland Sea off the coast of Yamaguchi Prefecture. It turned out that there were cracks in some parts as well.

Regarding the movement of the escort ships, there is no outlook.

On the 10th, while sailing in the Seto Inland Sea off the coast of Suo-Oshima Island in Yamaguchi Prefecture, the escort ship Inazuma was unable to navigate on its own due to a failure in the screw at the rear of the hull. We are investigating the cause, including the possibility that it came into contact with rocks in shallow water.

According to the Maritime Self-Defense Force, on the 11th, when the members dived and examined the hull in detail, it was found that part of the blade on the right side of the two screws had fallen off.

Oil for moving the screw was leaking from the fallen part, so even though the hole was blocked, a small amount of oil continued to leak.

In addition, cracks and dents were also confirmed in the forward part of the hull, saying, ``The probability of contact with underwater obstacles has increased.''

The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force wants to prevent oil leaks and coordinate with the Japan Coast Guard before moving the escort ship, but at this time there are no prospects.
