A local, solidarity and zero waste student grocery project has just been rewarded.

The student grocery store should open its doors on January 26 on the IMT Mines campus in Albi (Tarn).

It will be managed by the I2D association, reports

.

It was a call for projects that made the creation of this grocery store possible.

The concept is to offer students the opportunity to buy local products at cost price and in a zero waste format.

“We seek to raise awareness of transition issues, whether ecological or social,” explained the co-president of the I2D association.

Funded by thanks to “Equitable Generation”

The members of the association thus want to create points between the engineering curriculum of their school and environmental issues.

Their project won the “Fair Trade Generation” competition organized by Max Havelaar France and FAIRe un monde equitable, which will enable 100% financing of the launch of the grocery store.

After the flow of the first stock, the grocery store should be able to finance itself.

It will be open from the end of January on a bimonthly basis, a rhythm that could change according to student demand on campus.
