• The nautical event Débord de Loire will return from May 30 to June 5, 2023.

  • The previous editions took place in 2016 and 2019 in Nantes and Saint-Nazaire.

  • The highlight expected will be the parade of a fleet of around 200 boats.

It will be one of the major events on the French nautical calendar.

Absent for three years, the big party Débord de Loire will be back in 2023 for its third edition, confirm the organizers.

The event, which will take place on the Loire estuary, from Saint-Nazaire to Mauves-sur-Loire (Loire-Atlantique), will take place from May 30 to June 5.

In addition to a copious entertainment program during the week, the highlight will of course be the “great nautical parade” on Saturday June 3 on the river.

A fleet of 200 character boats is expected, including three prestigious guests: the famous three-master

Belem

, built in Nantes in 1896, the

Oosterschelde

, a Dutch schooner dating from 1918, and

Le Français

, ex -

Kaskelot

, three- boat masts of Danish origin dating from 1948. All three have the particularity of having had a history of transporting goods by sail (cocoa, rum, brick, etc.), the theme chosen for this edition.

Other contemporary or historic boats will join them for an ascent of the Loire which promises to be spectacular.

Objective: "to tell the uses of the river and to make the link between the transport of yesterday and the economic and ecological innovation of the estuary of tomorrow".

Shows, bike parade, visits, etc.

At the same time, three "participatory shows", concerts, exhibitions, guided tours and meetings will be organized during Débord de Loire.

A “bike parade” and secure cycle paths along the estuary are planned.

Entertainment villages will be set up on the quays of Nantes and Saint-Nazaire.

The previous editions of Débord de Loire took place in 2016 and 2019. More than 100,000 people attended the 2019 nautical parade. Some 200,000 visitors are expected this year for the whole event.

Débord de Loire is organized by the cultural association of the summer, with the financial support of several local authorities.
