• There will no longer be an emergency department at night at the hospital in Saint-Avold, in Moselle.

  • "The emergencies are closed from 7 p.m., for lack of staff," said Fazia Boukhelifa, medical secretary and CFDT delegate.

She reported on the “exhaustion” of her colleagues and the “overcrowding” of the service of this private non-profit establishment.

  • The CFTC and FO have also launched a renewable strike from January 6 to 23, for all 13 private non-profit establishments managed by the SOS health group, in Moselle but also in Creusot (Saône-et-Loire) or in Paris.

Do not go any more, at night, to the emergency room of the hospital of Saint-Avold, in Moselle.

The establishment, attached to the SOS group, now closes its service from 7 p.m.

The reason ?

There are no more staff: 36 of the 38 nurses and caregivers in the service are on sick leave.

"The emergencies are closed from 7 p.m., for lack of staff," said Fazia Boukhelifa, medical secretary and CFDT delegate, confirming information from France Bleu Lorraine Nord.

She reported on the “exhaustion” of her colleagues and the “overcrowding” of the service of this private non-profit establishment.

“Caregivers feel mistreated and mistreat patients.

Add to that incredible waiting times and premises planned for 40 passages per day when we record up to 110, this is what led to these sick leaves.

We have the impression that no lesson has been learned since the Covid crisis, ”she added.

Emergency care is provided during the day "by temporary workers", said Fazia Boukhelifa, but the hospital management "did not find the necessary staff to ensure the nights".

The CFDT had already launched a “symbolic” strike movement since December 28, and is starting an “unlimited” strike movement at the Saint-Avold hospital from Wednesday.

The CFTC and FO have also launched a renewable strike from January 6 to 23, for all 13 private non-profit establishments managed by the SOS health group, in Moselle but also in Creusot (Saône-et-Loire) or in Paris.

“After us, there remains the court of miracles”

“There is a complete fed up of caregivers.

We are asking for dignified working conditions, in order to take care of patients in safety, as well as an increase in staff and wages, ”said Marc Reisdorf, Force Ouvrière central union representative.

“The public service is already in a bad state, but below there are us, the private non-profit establishments: we have the same obligations as the public service, but without the means.

And after us, there remains the court of miracles, ”he protested.

“We are wondering when we will be received by the judge” for medical error.

“Today there is tension and demands,” admitted Denis Garcia, the hospital director.

“We hear these difficulties, we will try to find solutions.

The dialogue exists, the ARS (Regional Health Agency) is invested, I think it will succeed, even if things will not be settled in a few minutes.

We can't do with what we don't have.

In Moselle, almost all of the nurses and caregivers at the Thionville hospital had already declared themselves on sick leave just before the New Year, and a similar movement was observed in the Sarreguemines emergency room.

On Friday, the ARS launched the white plan in "all Moselle health establishments" to allow them to reorganize to deal with the crisis.
