It is the largest boundary lake between China and Russia, and also the largest freshwater lake in Asia. It covers an area of ​​4,380 square kilometers. The northern third belongs to China, and the southern two thirds belong to Russia.

The lake is rich in fish resources, with a total of 65 species of fish in 6 orders, 12 families, among which the most famous ones are "big white fish" and white shrimp in Xingkai Lake.
