Severe frosts will persist in Moscow and the Moscow region for several more days.

This was stated by Anatoly Tsygankov, deputy head of the situational center of Roshydromet, in an interview with RT.

“From January 7 to 8 -22 ... -24 ° C at night and -14 ... -16 ° C in the afternoon on Sunday.

On the night of January 9, -24 ... -26 ° C, in the daytime -16 ... -18 ° C, ”said Tsygankov.

Christmas night was the coldest in Moscow since the beginning of winter.

According to the weather station at VDNH, by 06:00 the air temperature in the capital dropped to -23.4 °C.

“The influence of the anticyclone on the weather of the capital region continues to increase, which leads to a further decrease in temperature.

In such a situation, last night in Moscow became the coldest since the beginning of winter, ”the message on the Meteovest website says.

It is clarified that at other weather stations in the capital, the minimum thermometer readings were -21.1 ... -24.8 ° C.

In addition, on the territory of the Moscow region, frosts crept close to -30 ° C.

In the north of the region, in Taldom, the minimum air temperature was -29.4 °C.

“In conditions of calm, relatively cloudy, anticyclonic weather, the minimum air temperature is usually observed at a moment close to sunrise, so that frosts can still get a little stronger in the next 2-3 hours,” the report says.

According to the Hydrometeorological Center, on Saturday, January 7, in Moscow, the thermometers will drop to -21 ° C.

Anatoly Tsygankov also noted that in most of the country the thermometers are below the norm.

As noted on the website of the Hydrometeorological Center, on January 8–9, “abnormally cold weather will set in” with air temperatures of 7–12 ° C, in some places 12–17 ° C below the average climatic values in the European part of Russia, in the north of the Urals and Siberia.

In addition, precipitation is predicted in the southern half of Siberia, in some places heavy, in the south - ice phenomena, in some places blizzards with wind gusts of 15-20 m/s, in some areas up to 20-25 m/s.

Honored Rescuer of Russia Sergei Shchetinin, in an interview with RT, even in severe frosts, called for monitoring forecasts, which usually publish information about the thickness of ice on rivers.

According to him, those who come to an unknown region should ask fishermen or local residents how safe it is to go out on the ice in this place.

If there are no people, it is better to take a branch or a ski pole, to probe the ice and snow cover.

Once on thin ice, it is advisable to lie down, occupy as large an area as possible and crawl towards the shore, the RT interlocutor noted.

If someone falls through the ice, call 112.

“If you think that you can cope with providing assistance without harming yourself, then try to save this person using improvised means: sticks, a scarf, a belt, skis.

You can crawl up to a person and slowly try to pull him out, ”the expert clarified.

He also noted that, having fallen through the ice, you should not panic - this reduces the chances of getting out of the water.

“We need to get rid of heavy objects: a backpack, wadded clothes ... Try to stretch your arms forward as far as possible, push yourself onto the ice with swimming movements of your legs ... Follow the tracks you came from.

And as soon as possible - into the warmth, warm up with hot tea, ”concluded Shchetinin.
