A Porsche driver raced through Berlin with a child in the car on Friday evening because he said he wanted to "test out" his vehicle.

As the police announced on Saturday, the 46-year-old drove through the districts of Charlottenburg and Westend at significantly excessive speed and was finally stopped by the police.

Around 9:30 p.m., the police officers noticed the car on the city freeway, which was repeatedly accelerating and making loud noises.

The driver exited the Autobahn at the Funkturm interchange.

The emergency services followed the car and observed that the driver repeatedly accelerated very quickly, suddenly changing lanes and overtaking other vehicles on the right and left.

Another driver had to make an emergency stop after the Porsche suddenly cut in from the right in front of him, the police said.

The Porsche was also driving at a significantly excessive speed.

When the driver stopped at an intersection, the emergency services managed to catch up with the car and asked the driver to stop.

A seven-year-old child of the 46-year-old was also in the car.

Both the driver's license and the vehicle were reportedly confiscated.

The investigation into the allegation of a prohibited motor vehicle race continued.
