  According to Zhai Jingxiang of the Nanyang Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, since 2020, the Nanyang Institute of Cultural Relics and Archeology has joined forces with the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, the China Pre-Qin History Research Association, and petroglyph enthusiasts to conduct a comprehensive archaeological investigation of the petroglyphs in Nanyang.

In 2022, many new petroglyph sites will be discovered.

  In July 2022, the Nanyang Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology organized the "2022 Nanyang Petroglyphs (Rock Paintings) Expert Demonstration Meeting". The participating experts conducted extensive and in-depth discussions on the age and nature of the rock paintings.

  According to Zhai Jingxiang, tens of thousands of petroglyph relics have been found in Nanyang, covering most counties in Nanyang.

According to the shape, structure, nature and function of the petroglyphs, they can be classified into pits, text symbols, line carvings, discs (sundials), altars, totems, reproductive worship, stone caves, stone houses, and stacked boulders. Eight categories.

  The study found that the petroglyphs in the Nanyang caves (Yaowo) are mainly circular combinations and linear patterns.
