This Friday, the SNEP unveiled the list of the best-selling albums of the year 2022. If French-speaking artists dominate the ranking, rappers Jul and Orelsan seem to stand out again this year.

As for international artists, Ed Sheeran, Imagine Dragons and Harry Styles are those who have sold the most albums in France.

A totally French-speaking top 10.

This Friday, the Syndicat National de l'Edition Phonographique (SNEP) unveiled the list of the best-selling albums of the year 2022. If this year, more than 16 million physical albums have been sold, 17 French-speaking artists are part of the top 20.

Jul tops cumulative album sales

With on the podium: Stromae, in third position, which sold 242,224 for

, released in March.

Rapper Ninho is in second position, with 283,242 copies sold for

The artist who sold the most albums in 2022 is none other than Orelsan, who totaled 406,837 sales with

Civilization

, released in November 2021. The rapper from Caen was already at the top of sales for the year 2021. The artists Gazo, Jul, Angèle, Lomepal, Vald, Tiakola and Clara Luciani complete this top 10.

If the

Civilization

album is the one that made the most sales in 2022, it was not Orelsan who sold the most albums last year.

He is well ahead of the Marseille rapper Jul, who has 582,635 sales for his albums Extraterrestre,

 Coeur Blanc, Demain ça ira, La Machine, C'est pas des Lol, Loin du Monde

, released between 2019 and 2022, and all placed in the top 200.

Female artists remain largely in the minority.

Only Angèle (6th position), Clara Luciani (10th position) and Mylène Farmer (11th position) manage to reach the top 20. As for international artists, the British Ed Sheeran is the one who has sold the most albums in France, followed by the American group Imagine Dragons.
