On January 5, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government announced that after communication and cooperation with the Macau Special Administrative Region Government, the cross-border ferry service between Hong Kong and Macau will be gradually resumed from the 8th to further promote the normal exchange of people between the two places.

Starting from January 8, the cross-border ferry services between Hong Kong and Macau via the Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal will be gradually resumed. Initially, a total of about 10 daytime ferry services will be provided every day.

In preparation for the resumption of sailings, the Marine Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government has inspected and tested terminal equipment, actively cooperated with shipping companies to complete ship surveys, sea trials, and trial berths, and arranged exercises with relevant government departments and shipping companies to ensure a smooth resumption of sailings.

The SAR government stated that the current testing requirements for people arriving from Macau to Hong Kong remain basically unchanged, that is, all people who are 3 years old or above on the day of arrival in Hong Kong must undergo a rapid antigen test within 24 hours before their arrival time, or undergo a nucleic acid test within 48 hours. Only those who have obtained a negative result can come to Hong Kong.

However, if the relevant person has stayed in the Mainland on the day of arrival in Hong Kong or 7 days before the day, he or she must undergo a nucleic acid test within 48 hours before traveling to Hong Kong and obtain a negative result before entering Hong Kong.
