Complex characters that make you wonder as a viewer whether you like them or not - these are roles that appeal to actress Anna Maria Mühe ("Dogs of Berlin", "Bauhaus - Die Neue Zeit").

Directed by Nicolai Rohde, the 37-year-old Berliner was in front of the camera in another ambivalent title role for the thriller series "Totenfrau": She plays Brünhilde Blum, undertaker and mother of two children.

When Blum's life is shattered by the death of her husband, she realizes that the supposed accident was murder - and sets out to find answers.

Above all, Blum seeks revenge.

The film adaptation of the bestseller by Austrian author Bernhard Aichner can be seen on Netflix from January 5th.

What do you eat for breakfast?

When we talk about a Sunday breakfast: I drink an oat cappuccino and eat a croissant with it.

Where do you buy your clothes?

Very different.

But I really enjoy browsing my favorite second hand shop called “Soeur” in Prenzlauer Berg in Berlin.

What is the oldest item of clothing in your closet?

A leather jacket I bought when I was 20 years old.

It wasn't expensive at all, it's not real leather.

But I've had them ever since, and love them very much.

I haven't worn them in ten years.

Maybe I'll get them out again this year.

When was the last time you wrote a letter by hand?

A few weeks ago I sent postcards from my vacation in France.

No matter where I am, I always send a postcard to my old nanny, for example.

She has known me since I was three months old.

What book has impressed you the most in life?

That's two books.

Once “Jugend ohne Gott” by Ödön von Horváth, that had a big impact on me when I was young.

And when I was a child, when I must have been ten or eleven years old, I read a book called “Hello Mister God, this is Anna speaking”.

This book left a lasting impression on me.

I look forward to being able to pass it on to my child at some point.

How do you find out about world events?

Classically about news - and about conversations with smart people.

What's your favorite small talk topic?

none at all

I hate small talk.

What was the last movie that made you cry?

I really like to cry when I watch movies and I fully commit to it.

The last thing I really searched through was the HBO series "Succession".

Are you superstitious?

no

Still, I don't go under a ladder.

What can you laugh about?

I'm very good at laughing at myself.

And about my child.

My daughter has a really wonderful sense of humor.

your favorite first name?

There are so many.

For example, I really like Paul.

I always love classic names.

Especially short names that are not abbreviated.

Do you take a lunch break?

Definitely in my professional life.

I especially like to take a nap in the afternoon.

In which country would you like to live?

In Italy.

Because of the food.

What's never missing in your fridge?

Chocolate.

Do you feel freer with or without a car?

With.

What's your greatest talent?

Well, hopefully my job, of course.

Otherwise: I am a very good hostess.

What do you do when it's unreasonable?

Smoking.

Which historical person would you like to meet?

Angela Merkel.

We met once at a political work.

That was very nice, but in a large group.

I'd like to have a one-on-one conversation with her and ask her how she's doing looking at current world events and not being on the front lines anymore.

Whether it's reassuring that she doesn't have to stand there anymore, or whether her fingers are itching and she would actually like to do something.

As far as historical people are concerned who are no longer alive: I would like to meet my role model Romy Schneider.

Do you wear jewellery?

And a watch?

I wear jewelry – always and a lot.

For example, I have two rings that I always wear.

And actually, I always wear earrings.

A watch doesn't.

Do you have a favorite scent?

Yes, but unfortunately it is no longer manufactured - which is really terrible.

So I always have to buy it online wherever I can find it.

It's an old Gucci fragrance.

It's just called Gucci.

And that's the common thing about searching.

What was your best holiday experience?

When I saw my daughter successfully stand on the surfboard and ride a wave for the first time.

What concert were you at last?

Two weeks ago I was with Meute, a techno marching band from Hamburg.

That was incredibly great, I would visit again and again.

I can only recommend to everyone.

Luckily, what are you missing?

Time.

And of course money.

what do you drink for dinner

When I'm home, tea and water.

When I'm on the go, I like wine.
