China News Service, Zhengzhou, January 5th (Kan Li) The reporter learned from the 2022 Henan Archaeological Work Achievement Exchange Conference on the 5th that ancient earthquake remains were found at the Dahecun site and the Shuanghuaishu site in Zhengzhou, Henan, with a magnitude of not less than 6. class.

The Dahe Village site includes four periods: Yangshao Culture, Longshan Culture, Erlitou Culture and Shang Culture.

Known as the "embryo of early Chinese civilization", the Shuanghuaishu site is the "Heluo ancient country" around 5300.

Yang Meng of the Zhengzhou Institute of Cultural Relics and Archeology introduced on the 5th that at present, the Dahe Village site has excavated an area of 2,500 square meters.

Exploration and excavation in recent years have shown that the Dahe Village site is surrounded by a moat, and there is a nearly rectangular rammed earth wall in the middle of the site, and a large number of earthquake remains were found in the site.

"In particular, the excavation and research in 2022 showed that there were at least two earthquakes at different time periods in the ruins from Yangshao to Longshan, one of which had a magnitude of not less than 6." Yang Meng said that archaeologists also found a large number of houses There are a large number of important relics such as ruins, tombs, ash pits, and flood traces, as well as a large number of pottery, stone tools, bone tools and other relics.

The latest results of the archaeological excavations at this exchange meeting show that the rammed earth wall of the late Yangshao period discovered at the Dahecun site belongs to the same period as the Shuanghuaishu site.

Similarly, archaeologists also discovered ancient earthquake remains at the Shuanghuaishu site.

According to Lu Peng from the Institute of Geography, Henan Academy of Sciences, the ancient earthquake remains found in the Shuanghuaishu site include the liquefaction and deformation of the internal trench sediments in the moat system, the associated ground subsidence, and the development of ground fissures; the collapse of the south wall of the central moat; A discontinuous near-east-west paleoseismic crack was formed in the site area, and the ground on the south side of the crack collapsed, causing some walls to collapse.

"It is preliminarily speculated that the magnitude of this earthquake is at least above Ms6.0."

Lu Peng said that combined with the succession sequence of cultural strata in the residential area revealed by archaeological investigations, it is speculated that this ancient earthquake event played a leading role in the collapse of a large number of buildings in the Shuanghuaishu site, and accelerated the "Heluo Ancient Kingdom" to a certain extent. decline.

The discovery of ancient earthquake remains in the two sites provides empirical data for the influence of ancient geological disasters on the changes of prehistoric settlements in the urban area of Zhengzhou.
