The Cirium 2022 On-Time Performance Review, an annual performance ranking of airlines around the world, has just been released.

We now know which companies were the most punctual in 2022.

But "many airlines and airports excelled" last year, according to Cirium.

Japan's airport voted best in the world

In Europe, the airline Iberia was the most punctual with 85.87% of its flights leaving on time.

It is followed by Air Europa then Iberia Express, shaping an entirely Spanish podium.

Worldwide, Azul Brazilian Airlines ranks first among the most punctual airlines, with 88.93% of its flights departing on time.

The podium is completed by All Nippon Airlines then Japan Airlines, both Japanese.

Cirium also voted Tokyo-Haneda the best airport in the world for on-time departures.

For an airport, this means that the flight departs within 15 minutes of its scheduled departure.

Delta Air Lines received, for the second consecutive year, the Cirium Platinum Award for worldwide operational excellence.

Several elements were taken into account to choose the American airline: its punctuality, its operational complexity but also its ability to limit the impact of flight disruption on its passengers.
