It's time to take advantage!

The museums of the city of Reims (Marne) are free, since Monday, and will be free until March 31 inclusive.

Thanks to this initiative, the municipality aims to renew the public of museums, but also to make culture more accessible, reports France 3 Grand Est.

The Saint-Rémi, Reddition, Hôtel Le Vergeur-Maison Hugues Kraft, Fort de la Pompelle and Foujita chapel museums are concerned.

The city wants to reproduce the "cultural effervescence" it had known by making its museums free during the summers of 2020 and 2021. Their attendance had then increased by a third.

It also seeks to "boost" the winter period, synonymous with "low attendance", according to the deputy mayor in charge of culture.

In addition, the town hall wishes to use this temporary free admission as an argument for its candidacy for the European Capital of Culture, the election of which will take place in 2028. "Opening culture to all can be an asset", assured the deputy.
