In Neuvillette-en-Charnie, in the Sarthe, a hundred farm animals are now spending happy days at the GroinGroin refuge.

Created in 2006, this farm covers 12 hectares and today employs 7 people.

She collects abandoned animals and if her first residents were pigs, they are now joined by chickens, goats, horses or cows...

“People adopted without real knowledge of these animals”

"Basically, it was really intended for Vietnamese pigs that many people adopted because "it's super cute", but without having any real knowledge of these animals, specifies Cyrielle, animal caretaker.

There were also farm pigs which were usually given as gifts in the belief that they would stay small.

This is how the GroinGroin refuge was filled.

OUR “SHELTER” FILE

To finance itself, the shelter accepts a few animals in boarding, but operates mainly thanks to donations.

“We do a little bit of awareness-raising about what abandoning animals entails or how to take good care of them.

We also explain that no, a pig is not dirty, it's even super clean because it relieves itself in a corner and if its "bed" is dirty, it won't want to sleep there!

“says Cyrielle.
