The Fazza Championship for Hunting with Principal Falcons (Al-Tilwah), organized by the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Center for the Revival of Heritage, witnessed the start of the public open runs, amid strong competition in the first two days for the two categories of Jeer Tabaa and Jeer Shaheen.
The tournament attracts elite falconers, with the number of birds exceeding more than 1,000 birds since the start of the event, and expectations of record participation in the coming days.
The Public Open category was distinguished by the participation of falconers from the sister Gulf countries, which adds more to the distinctive atmosphere of this heritage sport that brings together the people of the region over successive generations.
Today, the public open competitions continue with the establishment of pure gear runs, while tomorrow the Qarmousha runs will be organized.
The head of the Organizing Committee for the Fazza Falconry Championships, Demithan bin Suwaidan, confirmed that what distinguishes the championships, especially in the current version, is the increase in the number of new falconers, which reflects its role in spreading this popular heritage and motivating young people to practice it and follow in the footsteps of parents and grandparents.
He added that the capabilities and experiences of falconers accumulated in recent years made them able to distinguish birds better.
This qualifies them to choose the most appropriate round for the capabilities of each falcon between the rounds of the symbol, the chief and the cash, pointing out that each falconer participates with a number of birds whose capabilities and strength are well aware that qualify them to participate in the rounds designated for the symbol and the main, which makes us see these strong and distinctive levels.
He welcomed the participants from inside and outside the country.
He said: “Our tournaments are distinguished by the participation of all, in addition to equipping the smart tent for competitions with the best amenities and keeping pace with technological development through dedicated facilities that provide participants with freedom and enjoyment of the atmosphere of the tournament, with each falconer knowing the start times of his participation through the electronic application.”
