Emails announcing the intention to “blow up the entire school”.

This Tuesday morning, the Sermenaz high school in Rillieux-la-Pape, near Lyon, had to be evacuated following a threat of a bomb attack.

A case that is far from isolated.

In Carvin (Pas-de-Calais), another high school was forced to temporarily close its doors, while a demining team clears up the doubt.

In total, around twenty schools in France have received the same kind of message since Monday, indicates the Ministry of National Education, contacted by AFP.

Mainly in the Academy of Lille, and to a lesser extent in those of Créteil, Grenoble, Versailles, Normandy and Lyon.

Hacked student accounts

These messages “were spotted by parents on WhatsApp, Snapchat”, it was added.

Other threats were made on digital workspaces (ENT), an Internet portal which serves to connect parents, teachers and students in order to exchange information or communicate more easily and which have been hacked.

“Everywhere in France, high schools are recipients of emails threatening attacks on ENT” but “the senders of the emails are not the authors”, affirms a source close to the investigation, who adds that “the unit of fight against cybercrime is very closely associated with the investigation”.

“A message will be sent to all the principals asking them to be vigilant and to warn the police services” if necessary, indicates for its part the rectorate of Lille.
