Arthur shared happy news on his Instagram account on Sunday January 1.

The host of

 Friday, everything is permitted

has announced that he has been promoted to the national order of the Legion of Honor.

Very touched by this happy news, Arthur, whose real name is Jacques Essebag, wrote a long text to say "thank you" to France, the country which welcomed him and his family in 1967, after the war of the Six days.

"My family left Morocco in twenty-four hours"

"Jacques Essebag, you know me under the pseudonym of Arthur. I was born in Casablanca in 1966. In 1967, during the Six Day War, my family left Morocco in twenty-four hours. With nothing. We were welcomed in France in Massy. I spent my childhood there. The school, the summer camp, the artistic, sports and educational activities were available free of charge for all", can we read on Arthur's Instagram account, in caption a photo of him as a child, in black and white.

"It's a huge honor"

Arthur goes on to remember the opportunity he was given as a teenager.

"And it was even thanks to the town hall that I learned and got my first job as a radio host. I was 16," recalls the host, now known to all French people.

"40 years of work later, I have become the one you all know. Host, producer and entrepreneur. As such, I have just learned that I have been promoted to the national order of the Legion of honor. It's a huge honor," says Arthur with emotion.

The host assures him: he will "never" forget what "France has done for him".

"From the outstretched hand in 1967 to the doors it has opened to me throughout my life. France has changed my destiny. A France that has taught me so much,

given so much and to which I try to give back a little more every day.

Thank you", concludes the host, who therefore joins the list of 340 elected officials, also promoted to the national order of the Legion of Honor. Yannick Noah, the only Frenchman to have won a Grand Slam tournament, is there.
