The day before yesterday, the creator of the animated series “Shabby Shabu”, which became famous in the seventies of the last century, Italo Petiol, died at the age of 96, inside his home in Anyan, southern France, according to what was announced by a relative of the director who hails from Italy.

A statement from the “Magic” company, which owns the copyright to “Shabi Shabu”, quoted Eric Valan, an assistant and friend of the family, as saying that the 90-year-old “died peacefully.”

The "Chapi Chapo" series, which deals with the characters of a boy wearing blue and a girl wearing pink, wearing two large hats, began airing on October 16, 1974.

The statement indicated that the stories of the two characters in the series (consisting of 60 episodes, each lasting five minutes) “were shown around the world, up to the United States, where they were broadcast on Nickelodeon.”

Italo Petiol, who specializes in the “stop motion” technique, which is moving drawings and pictures in front of the camera, to appear as if they are moving by themselves, originally aspired to become a painter.

To achieve his dream, Italo, who came from Trieste, Italy, traveled to France in 1947, accompanied by his friend Stefano Lunati, who had recently graduated from the College of Fine Arts in Milan.

After Italo decided to work in the field of animation, Wolonati founded the company "Belokabe" in 1968, in partnership with Michel Karloff and Nicole Pichon.
