Jean-Marie Tétart, mayor of Houdan (Yvelines), recently announced to the elected officials of the city that he was going to take on the role of municipal police officer.

The only police officer in the town has indeed resigned to join Dreux (Eure-et-Loire).

However, the city cannot find a replacement for him, reports 78 Actu.

During the municipal council meeting on December 20, the mayor explained that he would intervene in all urgent cases of dangerous or inconvenient parking on weekends and public holidays.

Jean-Marie Tétart spoke of the "sorrow" felt after the departure of the police officer.

The latter has indeed followed several training courses to obtain accreditations and left his post after having received them.

The sum of 14,000 euros paid by the municipality so that the agent continues to be paid during his apprenticeship will be reimbursed by Dreux, as provided for by law.

The city must now focus on the search for a new member of its municipal police.

The task promises to be difficult, particularly given the large number of vacancies and the scarcity of candidates.
