Christmas classics aren't everyone's cup of tea, and certainly not Hannah and Tomas Mazetti.
The couple has indeed launched an online kitty with the stated aim of buying the rights to
Last Christmas
, the 1984 success of the duo Wham!, formed by George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley.
As they explain on the site dedicated to their objective, once the rights have been acquired, they want to “bury the master of
Last Christmas
in a nuclear shelter in northern Finland” never to hear it again anywhere.
Nerves
It must be said that Hannah Mazetti was traumatized at the age of 20 by the song which nevertheless gave rise to a film.
She was then working in a café in Oxford, England, to pay for her studies and the owner of the establishment was obviously a big fan of Wham!.
“He had planned a super cozy holiday season with his own playlist of hits on a CD.
He only came once in a while so he couldn't fully appreciate the agony we employees were going through when
Last Christmas
was played for the 111th time in the working day,' she told the
Daily Mail
.
That fans of George Michael and Wham!
are reassured: the price of the Last Christmas
master
is quite high.
Between 15 and 20 million dollars to settle with Warner Chappell Music, the record company.
So far, the couple has found 1,294 allies and pledges total $112,705.
We are far from the mark, therefore, even if the Mazetti think bigger: if they obtain the “last Christmas” of the tube of Wham!, they then want to eradicate from our ears
