Several members of the health, safety and working conditions committee (CHSCT) of the Orleans hospital (Loiret) asked management on Monday to close the emergency room of the establishment.

Their approach came on the day when the nursing staff of the service exercised their right of withdrawal for the eleventh time since March 28, specifies France Bleu Orléans.

The closure desired by the representatives is temporary but complete.

The applicants considered that it would make it possible to redirect patients waiting for the appropriate services.

They highlighted the critical situation in the midst of epidemics of Covid-19, influenza and bronchiolitis.

The members of the committee once again denounced the lack of places and staff.

One of them explained that, out of 49 patients admitted to the emergency room, 28 had been placed on stretchers while waiting for a bed.

Management acknowledged "exceptionally difficult conditions" but replied that it could not consider closing.

"We must maintain the hospital service to the population, we must," said Jean-Robert Chevallier, Deputy Director General.
