Miyoshi Soga, who was abducted by North Korea in Sado City, Niigata Prefecture 44 years ago, celebrates her 91st birthday on the 28th.

Her daughter Hitomi Soga, who was abducted with her and later returned to Japan, hopes to see her mother again as soon as possible.

Shortly after 7:00 pm on August 12, 1978, Miyoshi Soga was abducted while returning home after shopping at a grocery store near her home in Sado City with her daughter Hitomi.

She was attacked about 100 meters from her home by three men, who put her in a bag and carried her to the river, where she was put on a small boat.

At the time, Miyoshi was 46 years old and his Hitomi was 19.

After the Japan-North Korea Summit Meeting in 2002, when North Korea admitted to the abductions, Hitomi returned to Japan.

However, Miyoshi's whereabouts are still unknown, and she celebrated her 91st birthday on the 28th without being able to meet her Hitomi again.

In an interview with NHK, Hitomi Soga said, ``My memories with my mother have stopped in her 40s when she was abducted.I can't imagine my mother now. I want you to take enough of it and stay healthy. That is my only sincere wish."
