The emergency room at Orsay hospital (Essonne) has been without heating or hot water since November 12 after a pipe burst.

This difficulty is in addition to the many others that the hospital already encounters, explains

.

Epidemics and the lack of beds in the various departments of the hospital were already causing major problems.

From now on, caregivers are also obliged to heat water in the kettle to allow patients to shower.

The management also had to install several auxiliary heaters to ensure a minimum of heat for emergencies.

During the cold period, the temperature did not exceed 12°C inside.

Caregivers of the establishment said that their hospital is abandoned because of the future Saclay hospital center opening in two years.

The director of the Nord Essonne Hospital Group (GHNE), which includes the Orsay site, denied this.

He assured that he wanted to repair the installations, but would struggle to find the necessary parts due to the age of the establishment.

"It's extremely tense," he admitted.
