Still under construction, a gigantic logistics platform of 110,000 square meters will open its doors in 2024 in Beauvais (Oise).

If the information has not been confirmed, this warehouse could be occupied by Amazon, reports France 3 Hauts-de-France.

This is enough to worry some locals, who are wondering about the consequences of such an establishment.

According to Philippe Bernard, vice-president of the Beauvaisis agglomeration, this platform will generate many direct or indirect jobs.

However, in the eyes of a shopkeeper from Beauvais, these job creations could be to the detriment of small businesses.

Philippe Bernard, however, assures that the Oise Chamber of Commerce and Industry will be “particularly attentive to ensuring that local businesses take advantage of this opportunity”.

The environmental consequences of this giant warehouse also raise questions.

On the one hand, Philippe Bernard recalls that it is a “green building” equipped with solar panels.

On the other hand, Patrick Thierry, president of Picardie Nature, is worried about the role of this type of building in the artificialization of the soil.
