At least two people have been shot dead and four others injured in Paris.

Two of them were in mortal danger, the public prosecutor said on Friday afternoon.

A man was arrested with his gun, the newspaper "Le Parisien" reported, citing police circles.

There is no longer any danger.

The shots were fired at a Kurdish cultural center in the tenth arrondissement of the French capital.

The broadcaster BFMTV reported that the man was around 60 years old.

An eyewitness told the AFP news agency that "seven or eight shots were fired".

The police called for people to avoid the area around Rue d'Enghien in the 10th arrondissement.

It is a small street with many restaurants, not far from the Grande Boulevards with their famous department stores.

The fire brigade and rescue workers are on duty.
