Alec Baldwin had filed a complaint in November against Dave Halls, the assistant director of the western

Rust

, and the latter counterattacked.

He, too, filed a complaint in the Superior Court of Los Angeles against the actor, also producer of the feature film, claiming that he failed in his duties towards him and that he is therefore responsible for the death of the director of photography, Halyna Hutchins.

As relayed by the Hollywood Reporter, the assistant director also cites as responsible for the tragedy which cost the life of Halyna Hutchins, the gunsmith Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the person in charge of the accessories Sarah Zachry and the supplier of the ammunition Seth Kenney.

The director of photography had died during a rehearsal, when the weapon held by Alec Baldwin discharged.

The gun should have been loaded with a blank, but a live ammunition was in it.

The actor had declared that the assistant director had assured him that the weapon was safe.

The shooting also injured director Joel Souza.

Counter-accusation

His complaint follows that of the film's script, Mamie Mitchell, who denounced disastrous security on the set.

Dave Halls is seeking compensation from them if he is found to be partly responsible for this tragedy.

Alec Baldwin denies being responsible for the death of Halyna Hutchins.

The victim's husband withdrew his complaint against the actor and the production after reaching an agreement.

The filming of

Rust

must resume, with Matthew Hutchins among the producers of the feature film.
