Kanagawa Prefecture announced that a man in his 40s living in the prefecture was confirmed to be infected with "monkeypox" for the first time in the prefecture.

This is the eighth confirmed case of infection in Japan.

A man in his 40s living in Kanagawa Prefecture was confirmed to be infected with monkeypox.



According to the prefecture, the man had symptoms such as a fever of 38 degrees or higher and a sore throat, and had been hospitalized since the 14th of this month. By the way, the infection was confirmed on the 21st.



He is still hospitalized and is said to be in a stable condition.



The man has no recent travel history abroad and so far the route of infection is unknown.



This is the first time that a monkeypox patient has been confirmed in Kanagawa Prefecture, and the eighth confirmed case of infection in Japan.
