All Great and Small Creatures
: I can't think of a better plan for a rainy afternoon than staying at home

and watching the Ben Vanstone series.
This adaptation of the books by James Herriot, originally broadcast on the British Channel 5, is a delight.
Herriot, a pseudonym for James Alfred Wight, was a country veterinarian in Yorkshire.
His books, set between 1930 and 1950,
recount life in the British countryside, its people and its animals and achieved enormous success

United Kingdom television illuminated the first season of All Great and Small Creatures in September 2020. It was not the first time that Wight's work was brought to the screen, since the 70s, both the public BBC and other companies have pulled that source material.
However, in 2020 the world situation was very specific and having a series like
All Creatures Great and Small
as an evasion was medicine for the soul.
With his optimistic and endearing tone (and
never sappy
), Vanstone's work became a happy place when the virus rained outside.

, the winter of our viral discontent was a little better.
The third season of
All Creatures Great and Small
gives its fans what they want, but also offers the chance for new viewers to get hooked.
Either way, the series' installments are so short that sticking with it early on is not a long-term plan.
