A gift from Sharjah to the Sheikh of Al-Azhar, the good imam

The Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah presented to His Eminence the Grand Imam, Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayyib, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, three copies of the completed parts of the 36-volume Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language, covering the first nine letters of the Arabic letters.

This came during the visit of the Secretary-General of the Academy, Dr. Muhammad Safi Al-Mostaghanemi, to the Sheikhdom of Al-Azhar, in the context of seeking to further strengthen relations between the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah and the official academic and scientific institutions that contribute efforts and roles in serving and teaching the Arabic language.

During the visit, the Secretary-General of the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah, along with a number of senior scholars of the Union of Arab Linguistic and Scientific Academies, met His Eminence the Grand Imam, and conveyed to him a message from His Highness Sheikh Dr. In spreading Islam, and defining the tolerance of the Islamic religion in international conferences, academies, and international official forums.

For his part, Dr. Al-Tayeb expressed his pride in the message of His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah, and praised the efforts and achievements sponsored by His Highness to empower the Arab language and raise the banner of Arab culture in the modern era, within the civilizational project of the Emirate that His Highness has been leading for more than 50 years, and expressed his pleasure to receive Copies of the Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language.

The Sheikh of Al-Azhar said: “Sharjah has become a destination for scholars, researchers and academics, as it represents a scientific and cultural beacon with its own civilized project that heralds the nation’s renaissance and advancement through sponsoring major scientific and research projects, such as the Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language project, support for linguistic and scientific academies, and the establishment of the Qur’an complex edifice. And universities with diverse scientific faculties and various edifices of knowledge, culture and science.
