Underwater fisherman, Mathieu Ferreira used to go on raids to offer fish soup to the homeless.

Noting that his "neighbours on the sidewalk" slept on boxes that did not insulate them from the cold, this jovial Marseillais had the idea of making the homeless benefit from his equipment: "Since I am an underwater fisherman, I I have a suit that protects me from the cold… So I thought "Why not get some to share with the less fortunate?"

".

"It's solidarity recycling"

He then founded the association Les Pêcheurs du cœur, of which he is also the president, to recycle equipment for the homeless: “We take used suits, we cut them with a pattern.

We need four combination tops or three and a half bottoms to make a stack.

With the arms, we make cushions that we fill with small cut-out wetsuit shavings.

It's solidarity recycling,” he explains.

Les Pêcheurs du cœur works in collaboration with Les taxis de l'espoir Marseille, which distributes mats and cushions to the homeless.

“The cold is the first cause of death for the homeless.

Sometimes we close our eyes, we pass by, we don't even say hello.

Whereas, in fact, it could be you, it could be me, it could be my colleagues, it could be anyone,” concludes Mathieu.
