The day before yesterday, the Mohammed bin Rashid Library organized a series of events, with the participation of a group of creative and intellectuals, including the Iraqi poet Karim Al-Iraqi, and the Emirati poet Ibrahim Mohammed Ibrahim, in the presence of a remarkable presence of members of the library’s board of directors and visitors.

The activities began with poetry that touches hearts and highlights the beauty of Arabic, as Karim Al-Iraqi and Ibrahim Muhammad Ibrahim revived a poetry evening, moderated by writer Salma Al-Hafiti, in the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mohammed bin Rashid Library, Muhammad Ahmed Al-Murr, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Library, Dr. Muhammad Salem Al-Mazroui, and elite Emirati and Arab writers, poets, and intellectuals, in celebration of the International Day of the Arabic Language, which falls on December 18.

Al-Iraqi presented a poem dedicated to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, although the poem does not talk about His Highness personally, as Al-Iraqi mentioned, as it talks about the children of his country during the invasion and siege, as he testifies to his highness One of his heroic stances when he defied the siege, and sent a ship loaded with medicines and food for the children of Iraq.

Karim Al-Iraqi also recited a number of other poems, such as The Coat, The Billiards Player, which is the poem that the Emirati poet Sheikha Al-Mutairi responded to, and a poem that does not complain to people, and other poems full of images and delicate vocabulary that touched the feelings of the audience, who expressed great admiration and interaction.

While Ibrahim Muhammad Ibrahim recited a number of poems, including: “A Hot Dialogue with the Sea” and “To My Daughter Naglaa”, and a group of short poems, such as “An Endless Story”, “Divergence” and “Convergence”, which were characterized by the intensification of images. It is a skill possessed only by an accomplished poet who possesses the secrets of language.

For his part, Jamal Al-Shehhi, a member of the Board of Directors of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation, said, “The Arabic language, with its richness and diversity of vocabulary, plays a major role in highlighting our identity, culture, and Arab and Islamic roots, and constitutes one of the pillars of national identity in the UAE.” Mohammed bin Rashid has become today a creative, artistic and community center, as it actively contributes to the promotion of identity and the preservation of the cultural and human heritage, in addition to hosting more than 184 thousand books in the Arabic language, including more than 26 thousand books translated from other languages, and more than 52 titles. about the Arabic language, and it is constantly increasing.

The activities celebrating the International Arabic Language Day included the signing of the novel “The Circle of Spices” by Emirati writer Salha Obaid, who has published several novels, including Life in Zorba’s Way, in addition to publishing several collections of stories, including “Alzheimer’s” and “The Courier of Happiness.”

Among the activities, the Mohammed bin Rashid Library organized a reading and signing ceremony for the book “The Names”, translated by Emirati journalist Safia Al Shehhi, winner of the Sheikha Latifa bin Mohammed Award for Childhood Creativity in the Art of Public Speaking.

The activities witnessed a wide participation of members and visitors of the library from all segments and categories, stressing that the library has become a distinguished meeting place for everyone of all walks of life, and a center for stimulating passion for creativity and knowledge, and for introducing scholars, creators and talented people in all fields.
