The Dayang Drilling Ship is affiliated to the China Geological Survey Bureau of the Ministry of Natural Resources. It has a design displacement of 42,000 tons and is capable of operating in unlimited navigation areas in global seas and drilling capabilities in sea areas exceeding 10,000 meters. It is my country's first ultra-deepwater scientific research drilling ship.
As the "heavy weapon of the country" supporting the construction of a powerful marine country, the design and construction of ocean drilling ships focus on solving major resource and environmental scientific issues in the deep part of the earth.
According to reports, the construction of the Dayang drilling ship started on November 30, 2021. It took one year to complete the fabrication and loading of the main hull structure, and to achieve penetration.
Subsequent work will be carried out on the construction of the upper construction area, equipment installation and commissioning, and wharf tests. It is expected to be fully completed in 2024.
After completion, it will mainly undertake ocean scientific drilling tasks in major national scientific and technological projects and international major scientific plans, and is committed to building an important equipment platform for the national deep-sea strategic scientific and technological strength, promoting deep-sea science and technology to new heights, and comprehensively improving the ability to understand, protect and develop the ocean , to serve the construction of a maritime power.
