On December 18, the new multifunctional scientific research vessel "Hangyang Dizhi No. 2" slowly arrived at the scientific research wharf of Guangzhou Marine Geological Survey Bureau of China Geological Survey, marking the official opening of China's first deep-water scientific research wharf, and the guarantee of China's deep-sea exploration base capabilities will be further enhanced.

  The wharf is located in the northeast corner of Longxue Island, Nansha District, Guangzhou City. It covers an area of ​​about 300 acres, with a shoreline of 1,000 meters. There are 5 berths for scientific research ships, with a total length of 700 meters and a supporting land area of ​​about 12,000 square meters.

The terminal is connected to the main channel of Guangzhou Port through a branch channel. It has the functions of ship berthing, backup and supply, command and dispatch, maintenance and other functions. It meets the global standards for water and electricity for scientific research ships. At the same time, it has the ability to prevent floods once every 200 years. An important support facility for ocean scientific research cooperation and deep-sea technological innovation.

  The scientific research wharf is jointly constructed by the Guangzhou Marine Geological Survey Bureau of the China Geological Survey Bureau and the Nansha District Government of Guangzhou, the general contract of the Guangzhou Salvage Bureau of the Ministry of Transport and the Guangdong Shipping Planning and Design Institute Co., Ltd., and the management and supervision of Guangzhou Port Engineering Management Co., Ltd., 2020 The construction will start in October 2022, and the main body will pass the delivery inspection in November 2022.
