During the night of Sunday to Monday, a burglar broke into Robert de Niro's apartment in New York to steal Christmas gifts from him.

The police arrested her while she was helping herself at the foot of the actor's tree.

The latter was awakened by the "din" and went down "in a bathrobe" at the time of the arrest of the young woman. 

Robert de Niro had a little heat stroke before Christmas.

A burglar, known to the police, broke into his apartment in Manhattan to steal the gifts from under his tree.

Guarded by the authorities for several months, Shanice Aviles, 30, was caught red-handed by the police, who saw her return "through a basement door showing signs of breaking and entering".

An “uneventful” arrest

They arrested her while she was helping herself to gifts at the foot of the tree.

His arrest was "uneventful", police said.

Robert de Niro was in his apartment at the time of the incident, around 2:45 a.m.

The actor went down to his living room, simply dressed in a bathrobe, after hearing the "din".

The police were not aware that he lived in this apartment before seeing him appear. 

The burglar already arrested 26 times for burglaries

According to information from the

ABC

media , Shanice Aviles was wanted for six other burglaries before her arrest.

She has already been arrested 26 times for theft and burglary.

And, the young woman has ten times robbed residences in the upscale Upper East Side, where Robert de Niro lives.

The actor declined to comment on the incident.
