In Seine-Saint-Denis, the Est Ensemble urban community announced on Tuesday its intention to plant more than 20,000 trees by 2026, reports Actu Seine-Saint-Denis.

Entitled “My city, my life, my tree”, the operation aims to double the ground surface currently occupied by plants.

The first trees have already been planted at the Cité des Courtillères de Pantin.

The cities of Bagnolet, Bobigny, Bondy, Le Pré Saint-Gervais, Les Lilas, Montreuil, Noisy-le-Sec, Pantin and Romainville are concerned by the operation, for a budget of 20 million euros.

In total, more than 450 very diverse places have been identified: roads, parks, schools, public facilities, condominiums, cemeteries, and even in private homes.

It will be possible to find them on an interactive map.

"It is an essential investment for the territory which aims to repair the climate injustice suffered by our inhabitants, by doubling in the coming years the number of square meters of accessible green spaces", indicated Patrick Bessac, the president of Is Together quoted by our colleagues.

The stated goal is to improve thermal comfort in the city and to fight against the effects of global warming.
