The prefect of the Dordogne Sébastien Lamontagne was pleased this Thursday to see the epizootic of avian flu on his territory "contained".

, was delighted that there was "no conflagration in the department as there could have been last spring".

However, the situation did not inspire optimism at the beginning of December.

Two foci of bird flu were then detected in Saint-Geniès (Dordogne).

A health system had been put in place by the prefecture.

Despite the existence of six outbreaks of the virus in the sector, the local authorities therefore want to be reassuring.

The latter also indicated that two suspicions of infected farms were being verified.

In order not to risk the spread of avian flu, the prefect mentioned the need for “a balanced mix of measures”.

Among these is the prohibition within a radius of 20 km around each outbreak of the disease of the circulation of trucks transporting animals.
