During the relocation work of the U.S. Futenma Air Base in Okinawa Prefecture to the waters off the coast of Henoko, Nago City, the Okinawa Defense Bureau announced in July this year that about 84,000 coral colonies inhabiting areas where soft ground was found in the sea area scheduled for reclamation. I applied to Okinawa Prefecture for permission to do the transplant work.



In response to this, Okinawa Prefecture disapproved in September this year, saying, ``The application for a design change to improve the soft ground has not been approved, and the legal status to carry out the construction has not been obtained.'' I was doing



In response to this, the Okinawa Defense Bureau requested the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, which protects corals, to review the cancellation of the disposition by Okinawa Prefecture.



On the 16th, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries made a ruling to cancel this request, saying that the disapproval by Okinawa Prefecture was illegal.



Regarding the reason, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries said, ``Okinawa Prefecture has disapproved the application for a design change to improve the ground, but it does not mean that the plan for land reclamation work has disappeared, and it is necessary to transplant corals.''
