Hilary Duff battled anorexia when she was 17, as her career was starting to take off.

"Because of my career choice, I (couldn't) help but think, 'I'm in front of the camera and the actresses are skinny.'

It was awful,” she recalled in an interview with

Women's Health Australia

.

However, the 35-year-old star who had seen her weight drop to 44 kilos managed to overcome this eating disorder on her own, and she has since imposed a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

And if today Hilary Duff does not miss an opportunity to struggle at the gym, it is in order to feel good in her body and not to lose weight at all costs!

“I like being healthy and doing things that make me feel strong instead of just improving the outside of my body,” added Hilary Duff.

So I hang out with people who make me feel good and share similar views on health and body positivity, and make sure I get enough sleep and eat a balanced diet.
