A report from the Regional and Territorial Chamber of Accounts on the activity of the Vendée Departmental Hospital Center (CHD) between 2018 and the first half of 2022 points to the remuneration of certain contract doctors.

Indeed, these practitioners presented as "mercenaries" by our colleagues from the Journal du Pays Yonnais receive emoluments well above the ceiling set by the regulations of the public health code.

Wages often exceed 1,170.04 euros gross for a 24-hour day.

Three doctors received 61,132.45 euros, 97,510.66 euros and 146,941.78 euros respectively for the year, while the ceiling is set at 58,226.66 euros.

Too much tension around certain specialties

These non-standard salaries are the result of tensions in certain specialties.

The CHD finds itself forced to negotiate directly with the doctors, without going through the traditional interim network, in order to continue to receive patients, particularly in the emergency room.

Despite interim contracts signed in 2018 and 2020 in order to recruit in compliance with the regulations, "only 15% of the vacancies" are actually filled to date, indicates the management of the hospital to our colleagues.
