Today, the activities of the sixth session of the Sharjah Festival for Desert Theater begin in the Al-Kahif region. Five theatrical performances from the Emirates, Egypt, Mauritania and Morocco will participate in this session of the festival, which is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. , and Syria, and organize an intellectual colloquium under the title “Desert Theater and the Rooting of Arab Watch,” with the participation of researchers from several Arab countries.

The festival opens with the Emirati play “Salloum Al Arab”, written by Sultan Al Neyadi and directed by Muhammad Al Ameri, and presented by the Sharjah National Theater Group, with the participation of actors: Ahmed Al Jasmi, Ibrahim Salem, Marai Al Halian, Bodour, Nabil Al Mazmi, Ali Al Ahbabi, Muhammad Al Kaabi, Abdullah Al Jarwan, and Muhammad Ghanem. , Talal Al Balushi, Ali Nabil, Jassim Sami, Hamid Muhammad, and Masoumeh.

This play embodies the Emirati Bedouin environment with its customs, traditions, values ​​and heritage, through three stories that have been passed down from generation to generation, because of the wisdom and expressions it carries within it, about generosity, courage and altruism, stories that sing the noble meanings of the people of this good land.

The festival organizes a meeting on Friday morning for the directors of the participating performances at the residence of the guests. They are: director Nasser Abdel Moneim, who represents Egypt in the festival with the play “Al-Samer”, and Samer Omran from Syria, director of “Lamentation”, and from the Kingdom of Morocco, director Amin Nasour presents “The Tent”. And from Mauritania, director Sally Abdel Fattah, who directs the play “Mint El Bar”.

It is noteworthy that the Desert Theater Festival came as a translation of the directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, and His Highness had written the first theatrical work that was presented at the opening of the first session (2015), entitled “Alia and Essam.” His Highness also wrote the play “Daesh and Al-Ghabra” that was presented in the second session of the festival. (2016) The two works depicted the unique view of the festival, and its perspective aimed at prompting creators to explore the memory of Arab heritage, revive its authentic Persian traditions, and renew the audience’s sense of its intellectual and aesthetic treasures.
